Portfolio dashboard: KPIs, charts and audit status explained

The Portfolio page totals value, growth and audit status across the companies your organisation owns, with each KPI formula shown on hover.

Written by Daniel

The portfolio dashboard lists every company your current organisation owns, totals their valuations, growth and fundraising, and shows which companies are ready for an audit. It is built for a desktop browser: the menu entry is hidden on phone-sized screens.

How do I open the Portfolio page?

Open the top-right menu and click Portfolio, or View all in the Switch company submenu. It needs no paid plan, even after your access days run out.

It shows the organisation you are working in. To see another organisation, switch to one of its companies first.

Which companies count in the KPIs and charts?

KPIs and charts cover companies checked in the table and match the Stage, Industry and Country filters. The toolbar counter shows how many are in the analysis. The search box only finds table rows.

Your checkbox choices are saved in your browser for each organisation, and new companies start checked. A company without a valuation shows Not yet valued and adds nothing to value totals.

How is each KPI calculated?

Hover the question-mark icon on a card to read its formula.

  • Portfolio value: the sum of each company's average valuation, with a range summing each company's lowest and highest active method.

  • 12-month change: total value today against 12 months ago, counting only companies valued at both dates.

  • Capital being raised: the capital sought by companies with an open round, with the average equity offered below.

  • Projected revenue growth: total next-year revenue divided by total current-year revenue, minus one, from each company's own projections.

  • Concentration: the share of value held by the five largest companies. Below it, the normalized Herfindahl-Hirschman Index runs from 0 (even spread) to 1 (one company).

  • Median EV / Revenue: the median of each company's valuation (EV, enterprise value) divided by its current-year revenue.

  • Capital efficiency: total value divided by founder capital plus closed equity and convertible rounds. Grants and rounds of type Others are left out.

  • Data freshness: the share of companies changed in the last 6 months.

What do the charts and the table show?

Portfolio value over time totals the last 24 months, carrying each valuation forward until it changes. Allocation splits value by stage, industry or country. Top movers, 12 months shows the 10 largest changes. Multiple against growth plots EV / Revenue against projected growth. Valuation ranges shows the five-method spread for the 15 largest companies.

The table shows figures in each company's own currency, or Not available when a figure cannot be calculated. Runway divides current cash by monthly burn based on EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation); positive EBITDA reads Profitable. Show company detail opens each method's value and weight. Row actions are Download the last report (PDF), Download this company as Excel and Delete company.

The toolbar holds Add a new company and Download my data. A second download button sits under the audit table, with a note on how many selected companies are audit-ready.

How does the audit status work?

The Audit and activity section gives each company one status, checked in this order:

  1. In setup: the valuation is not finished.

  2. No report: no report exists yet. It reads Generating while the first report is being produced.

  3. Report outdated: the data changed after the last report.

  4. Stale data: nothing changed for more than 6 months.

  5. Audit-ready: the data changed in the last 6 months and the report matches it.

A new report for a company that already has one shows a spinner in the Last report column and does not change the status. Each row shows when the data last changed and, when recorded, who changed it, or Not recorded. The chevron opens up to 10 recent changes and reports.

Limits

  • Scope: only companies your current organisation owns. Deleted companies are excluded.

  • Currency: totals use the most common company currency, converted at current exchange rates, past months included. A company whose currency cannot be converted is left out of money totals, with a note under Portfolio value.

  • Exports: on the free plan, Download my data opens a subscription prompt and the per-company Excel download is not available. Download my data covers every organisation you belong to, not only the analysis.

  • Row actions: the report download appears once a completed report exists. Delete company is hidden when the organisation has one company; with a valuation period it shows a blocking message. See the deleting article below.

  • Runway: shown only with negative EBITDA and cash not below zero, capped at 120 months. EBITDA of zero shows neither runway nor Profitable.

  • Setup: in the company strip above the table, an hourglass marks a company in setup. Opening it continues its onboarding.

Common questions

Why does EV / Revenue show Not available?

It needs a valuation and current-year revenue above zero.

Does unchecking a company delete it?

No. It only leaves the KPIs, charts and audit section.

Does the dashboard show IRR or multiple on invested capital?

No. IRR (internal rate of return) needs your investment amounts and cash flows, which Equidam does not hold.
