Each valuation report you generate with Generate report can also be downloaded as an Excel workbook and a Markdown text file. Both files hold your data as it stood when you clicked the button, so later edits to your company do not change them.
Where are the Excel and Markdown downloads?
They sit under the PDF Report button of each report in the Downloads section of the Reports page. There are two links:
Excel format downloads an .xlsx workbook named "Company name - Valuation Data - date - #report number".
.md for agents downloads a .md file named "Company name - Valuation Report - date - #report number".
The date is the generation date. Advisory reports and reports uploaded for past funding rounds have no Excel or Markdown version.
What does the Excel file contain?
The workbook has one sheet per part of the report:
Valuation Summary: the valuation range, each method's valuation and method weight, the equity investment and the exit value.
Method Details: the Scorecard method, Checklist method, VC method, DCF with long-term growth and DCF with multiples.
Financial Projections: profit and loss, cash flow statement and balance sheet.
Qualitative Assessment: your scores, followed by a Full Questionnaire block listing every questionnaire question with your answer, grouped by section. Unanswered questions show "Not answered".
Company Profile: basic information, ownership, use of funds, industry and activity, business model, management team, competitors and funding rounds.
Advanced Settings, Similar Rounds and Verification sheets appear only when they apply. The workbook holds values, not formulas, so editing a cell does not recalculate the valuation.
What does the Markdown file contain?
The Markdown file holds the same saved data as plain text, with each number labelled. It includes the valuation summary, method details, financial projections, the qualitative assessment with the full questionnaire, and an appendix with industry benchmarks, method weights by stage, formulas and a glossary. It closes with the disclaimer and links to Equidam resources.
Using the Markdown file with an AI assistant
The file is written so an AI assistant can answer questions such as "Break down the valuation by method". Equidam does not send the file anywhere: it downloads to your computer, and you decide whether to upload it, name and email address included. An AI assistant only reads the file. It does not change the valuation.
How is this different from Download Company Data?
The report exports are frozen copies of the data saved for one report. The company data export, the Download Company Data card at the bottom of the Reports page, downloads the company's current profile, questionnaire answers, financial projections and valuation results as Excel at the moment you click. It needs a paid plan: on the free plan the button shows a lock and opens the upgrade window.
Limits
Generating a valuation report needs a paid plan and a completed questionnaire and financial projections. You cannot generate a report on the free plan, so there is nothing to export.
By default, a report cannot be generated while the valuation is negative.
Reports already in the Downloads section stay downloadable without an active subscription.
Reports generated before these exports existed show no links. Generate a new report to get them. The full questionnaire block appears only in reports generated after it was added.
If the data copy could not be saved at generation, the links do not appear for that report.
The files are built from the saved data, not from the PDF, so they can still download when the PDF failed to generate.
If one Excel sheet cannot be built, it shows "Unable to generate this section" and the other sheets still download.
Headings and labels in both files are in English, whatever language your PDF uses.
Anyone who can open the company in your organisation can download both files, including members with the Guest role.
Both files include the name and email address of the person who generated the report: the Contact row in Excel and the Prepared by line in Markdown. With report verification on, anyone with the verify link can download them without logging in.
Common questions
Can people I share the report with download the Excel or Markdown file?
Yes, with report verification on: anyone with the verify link or QR code can click Download Excel or Download Markdown on the verify page, without logging in, and so sees the generating person's name and email address. The interactive report link offers only the PDF, and only when Allow PDF download is on.
Will the export change if I edit my financials?
No. Each export is built from the data saved for that report. Generate a new report to get files with your new numbers.
Why does my Excel file have no Verification sheet?
The sheet and the Markdown verification link are added only if verification was on when you generated the report. Files downloaded from the verify page always include the link.
