Past funding rounds: record them and attach a past report

Add closed rounds under Past Funding Rounds on the Funding tab and attach an earlier valuation PDF of up to 20MB, which then appears on your Reports page.

The Past Funding Rounds section of the Funding tab records rounds your company has already closed: the round type, the post-money valuation, the amount invested, the equity sold and the close date. You can attach the valuation report used for each round, from Equidam or any other provider. Attached reports must be PDF files of 20MB or less.

How do I add a past funding round?

  1. Open Funding in the left menu and scroll down to Past Funding Rounds.

  2. Click Add more rounds. A new row appears with today's date as the close date.

  3. Pick the round type and fill in the fields it allows.

  4. Click the date under Closed date to change it.

  5. Click Save.

Once the table has rows, Add more rounds only adds another when the last row has a value under Post-Money/Valuation Cap. The post-money valuation is the company's value right after the new money came in.

Which fields apply to each round type?

Fields the type does not use are greyed out.

  • Equity round: Post-Money/Valuation Cap, Investment and Equity %.

  • Convertible: Post-Money/Valuation Cap and Investment. Enter the valuation cap in the first column.

  • Grant: Investment only.

  • Aquisition (spelled this way in the product), 409a and Others: Post-Money/Valuation Cap only.

How do I attach a past valuation report to a round?

  1. In the Report column of the round, click Upload.

  2. Choose the PDF file.

The filename then appears with Download and Remove links. The upload is saved straight away. Click Save after you upload to a new round: a report attached to a round that is never saved is removed at the next save.

Each round holds one report. To replace it, click Remove and upload the new file.

Where does the uploaded report appear?

It appears on the Reports page, in the Downloads list, next to your Equidam valuation reports. It is dated by the round's close date, not the day you uploaded it, and the date follows any close date change you save.

The row shows the original filename, the line "Uploaded report from funding round" and, when the round has one, the post-money valuation or valuation cap. The download button returns your original PDF. Uploaded reports cannot be renamed, shared as an interactive report link or deleted from the Reports page.

What happens when I remove a report or a round?

Remove takes the report off the Funding tab and the Downloads list at once. There is no confirmation and no undo; upload the file again to restore it.

Remove round deletes any report attached to that round immediately, even if you then leave the page without saving. The round itself goes only when you click Save. Reports on later rounds are re-numbered at once, so click Save right after removing a round to keep each report next to its round.

Removed files stay in storage, and Equidam records who removed each one and when.

Where else do past funding rounds show up?

Past rounds are not an input to the five methods, so they do not change your valuation. They appear in these places, among others:

  • The valuation report, in a Past funding rounds table listing up to 10 rounds, most recent first.

  • The dashboard valuation history chart, where each round with a valuation and a close date is marked with a triangle.

  • The SAFEs & Ownership tab, which suggests your Convertible rounds as imports. Only the amount and date carry over, and you confirm the terms.

  • The portfolio dashboard, which counts Equity round and Convertible investments as capital raised.

When you enter an investment amount and date on an investor or employee row of the cap table, Equidam adds a matching round here, using the round type set on that row or Equity round otherwise. It never deletes rounds you entered yourself.

Limits

  • Files must be PDF and 20MB or less. Other files are refused with "Only PDF files are accepted." or "File size must be under 20MB."

  • Past rounds and reports are available once your first estimate is complete.

  • The free plan and paid plans can both record rounds and attach reports. On the free plan the Reports page shows a lock icon and report generation is replaced by an upgrade offer, but the Downloads list, including uploaded reports, is still shown.

  • Anyone with access to the company in your organisation can download an uploaded report. Members with the Guest role can download but cannot upload or remove reports.

  • There is no preview; download the file to open it.

  • If an upload fails, you see "Upload failed. Please try again."

Common questions

Does Equidam use the numbers inside my uploaded report?

No. Equidam stores the PDF without reading it. Only the figures you type into the round's row are used.

Can I upload a Word or Excel file?

No. Export it to PDF first.

Can I upload a report made by another valuation provider?

Yes. Equidam does not check who produced the file.
