Free plan lock icons: what each locked screen shows

On the free plan, a lock marks Advanced Settings, Advanced Multiples, Exit & ROI, Benchmarks and Reports. Each opens a preview you can read but not use.

On the free plan, a small lock icon next to a sidebar tab means the screen opens as a preview: you can see what the feature does, but you cannot change values, see your own numbers or download anything. The locked tabs are Advanced Settings, Advanced Multiples, Exit & ROI, Benchmarks and Reports. Other tabs, including Questionnaire, Financials, Funding and SAFEs & Ownership, have no lock icon.

Which sidebar tabs have a lock on the free plan?

Five tabs show a lock icon. The icon appears only while the sidebar is expanded; in the collapsed sidebar you see the tab icons without locks.

  • Advanced Settings

  • Advanced Multiples

  • Exit & ROI

  • Benchmarks

  • Reports

Dashboard, Questionnaire, Financials, Funding, Company, SAFEs & Ownership and History have no lock. The free plan also shows a Get your report button at the bottom of the sidebar. Its tooltip reads "Unlocks your report, peer benchmarks, and sensitivity analysis."

What you see on each locked screen

Advanced Settings opens as a Read-only preview. A banner explains that you can browse method weights, scorecard and checklist criteria, DCF (discounted cash flow) assumptions and multiples. The method weights, criteria and DCF inputs are read-only. The toggle that activates custom values is hidden. Clicking a reset icon opens the upgrade window instead of clearing the value.

Advanced Multiples loads with its three source cards: Industry Average, Comparables and Manual Entry. Selecting any card opens the upgrade window, so the source behind your multiples stays at its current setting.

Exit & ROI takes you to a locked page. The projected exit value and the ROI (return on investment) figures are blurred, and the heading reads Unlock your exit value. The See pricing button opens the billing page.

Benchmarks shows a preview built on sample data, headed Benchmarks preview, with sample data. Each chart card carries a Sample data label because the figures belong to an example company, not yours. The filters are fixed labels you cannot change, and the controls for customising or exporting similar rounds are absent.

Reports replaces the report generator with a block headed "Get [your company]'s valuation report", an Unlock your report button and a See a sample report link. In the Download Company Data section, the Download Excel button shows a lock and opens the upgrade window.

Locked features outside the sidebar

Two more items are locked on screens that are otherwise open. On the Dashboard, the sensitivity analysis shows both 5 by 5 grids with every valuation cell masked and an Upgrade to unlock button. On the Valuation progress page, up to 3 similar funding rounds appear in full and up to 5 more appear blurred.

Why locked features are shown instead of hidden

The previews show what each feature does before you upgrade, without revealing your own numbers or saving changes. The locks are also enforced on our servers, not only in the app. Generating a report, report verification, the company data export, saving Advanced Settings, Exit & ROI data, sensitivity analysis data and your own Benchmarks data are all refused for a free plan company, even outside the app.

Limits

  • Editing Advanced Settings is unlocked on the Advanced plan and the Expert plan.

  • Exit & ROI and report generation are available on every paid plan.

  • Benchmarks and the full sensitivity analysis need benchmarks access, which comes with the Expert plan. On the Advanced plan, those two usually keep their lock.

  • For professional users: a licensed organisation can also be set up with benchmarks access, for the whole organisation or for a single company.

  • Generating a report on a paid plan still requires a completed Questionnaire and Financials.

  • Controls inside a preview do not save anything, and nothing you see in a preview changes your valuation.

Common questions

I clicked a locked tab and the address changed to a billing page. Is something wrong?

No. On the free plan, Benchmarks and Exit & ROI redirect to their preview pages, which sit under the billing section of the app.

Are the numbers on the Benchmarks preview about my company?

No. Every chart on the free plan Benchmarks preview uses sample data for an example company, which is why each card carries a Sample data label.

Can I still see similar funding rounds on the free plan?

Yes. The Valuation progress page shows up to 3 similar rounds in full, with up to 5 more blurred.

I upgraded to the Advanced plan and Benchmarks is still locked. Why?

The Benchmarks lock depends on benchmarks access, not on the free plan. Benchmarks and the full sensitivity analysis come with the Expert plan, or with a licensed organisation set up with benchmarks access.
