Report language: change the language of your report

Choose one of 8 languages under Report language on your Profile page, then generate a new report. Reports you already generated keep their language.

Your valuation report can be generated in 8 languages. The language is a setting on your Profile page, and it applies to each report at the moment you generate it. Reports you generated earlier keep the language they were created in, so to get a report in a new language you generate a new one.

Which languages is the report available in?

The report is fully translated into 8 languages. The dropdown lists each one in its own language:

  • English

  • Español (Spanish)

  • Français (French)

  • Italiano (Italian)

  • Nederlands (Dutch)

  • Deutsch (German)

  • Português (Portuguese, as used in Portugal)

  • Português (Brasil) (Brazilian Portuguese)

Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese are separate translations, because fundraising vocabulary differs between the two markets. German is also fully translated.

How do I change the report language?

Set it on your Profile page, save, and generate a new report.

  1. Open the top menu and choose Profile.

  2. Under Report language, pick a language.

  3. Click Save at the bottom of the page. Until you do, a note next to the dropdown says you have unsaved changes.

  4. Go to the Reports page and click Generate report.

The new PDF is written in the language you picked.

What gets translated, and what stays in English?

The report text is translated: section headings, method explanations, chart labels, the balance sheet row names, answer labels from the questionnaire, currency names and the generation date.

These parts are not translated:

  • Text you typed yourself, such as your company description or a custom "About" section, appears as you wrote it.

  • Number formatting stays the same in every language.

  • The Equidam app itself (menus, tabs, forms) is in English only. The setting changes the report, not the interface.

  • The Excel format and .md for agents downloads on each report row are in English.

Do my existing reports change language?

No. Each report keeps the language it was generated in. On the Reports page, each report row shows a LANGUAGE: line with a flag, for example "LANGUAGE: Français". Hover over it to see which language it was generated in; click it to open your Profile page. Older reports generated before Equidam recorded the language do not show this line.

Who in an organisation controls the language?

Reports use the language set on the profile of your organisation's owner account, the account that created the organisation. This applies whoever clicks Generate report. If you are the only user, that is you. If you are a member of someone else's organisation, changing Report language on your own profile does not change the reports you generate there; ask the owner to change theirs.

What language does the interactive report link use?

The interactive report link opens in English unless the link ends with ?lang= and a language code. Add it to the end of the link before you send it. The codes are:

  • Español: es

  • Français: fr

  • Italiano: it

  • Nederlands: nl

  • Português: pt

  • Português (Brasil): pt_BR

For example, a link ending in /shared/r/<token>?lang=fr opens in French. The language is kept on the password page if you set a link password. The interactive page's own text has no German translation yet, so ?lang=de shows it mostly in English.

Limits

  • Generating a report needs a paid plan. On the free plan, Generate report shows a lock and opens the upgrade prompt instead of creating a report.

  • Read-only (guest) members cannot generate reports, so they cannot produce a report in any language.

  • Only the 8 languages above are available. An unsupported code in an interactive link is ignored and the page opens in English.

  • You cannot change the language of a report you already generated. Generate a new report instead.

Common questions

I changed the language but my new report is still in English. Why?

Two common causes are a change that was not saved with the Save button at the bottom of the Profile page, and an organisation owner who has a different report language set. If you are looking at an interactive report link rather than the PDF, it opens in English unless the link ends with ?lang=.

Can I have the same valuation in two languages?

Yes. Generate a report, change Report language, save, and generate another. Each report is listed on the Reports page with its own LANGUAGE: line.

Does changing the language change my valuation?

No. The language changes only the wording of the report. The valuation reflects the data you entered, whatever language it is written in.
