Advanced Settings is the sidebar page where you replace Equidam's default assumptions with your own: each method weight and the inputs inside each method. Use it when you or an investor want the valuation built on different assumptions. The rule that matters most: your changes apply only while the Custom values switch at the top of the page is on.
How do I turn on custom values?
Turn on the Custom values switch in the bar at the top of Advanced Settings. The change saves straight away and the valuation is recalculated. While the switch is off, the method weight fields are hidden, the method cards are greyed out, and the page shows "You can adjust the default values by activating the custom values in the top bar".
If you switch it off later, your custom values stay stored but stop counting, and the valuation goes back to Equidam's defaults. Switch it on again and your stored values apply again.
Which method weights can I change?
You can set a percentage weight for six methods: the five methods (Scorecard method, Checklist method, VC method, DCF with long-term growth, DCF with multiples) plus the Multiples method. The default weights depend on your company's development stage, and the Multiples method starts at 0%.
Deactivate sets a method's weight to 0%.
Activate gives a deactivated method a weight of 10%.
The weights must total 100%. Until they do, the page shows Exceeding 100% or 100% not reached and you cannot save. A method set to 0% gets no method pages in the valuation report.
Which inputs can I change inside each method?
Each method has its own card. An empty field uses the Equidam default, shown greyed out inside it.
Scorecard method: Average Valuation of Comparable company and six criteria weights (Quality of the core team, Size of the Opportunity, Strength and protection of the product/service, Competitive environment, Strategic relationships with partners, Funding required).
Checklist method: Maximum Valuation achievable and five criteria weights (Quality of the core team, Quality of the Idea, Product roll-out and IP protection, Strategic Relationships, Operating Stage).
VC method: Annual Required ROI, the yearly return an investor expects.
DCF with long-term growth: Yearly Long term growth, WACC premium, Risk Free Rate, Beta, Market Risk Premium (MRP), Illiquidity discount, and one survival rate per projection year (Survival rate year 1, Survival rate year 2 and so on).
DCF with multiples: the same fields except long-term growth, plus a locked Ebitda multiple row (see the next section).
The two DCF cards share their inputs, so changing Beta on one card updates the other. Each DCF card shows its discount rate (WACC, the weighted average cost of capital): Risk Free Rate + Beta × MRP + WACC premium. The WACC premium defaults to 0%.
Where did the EBITDA multiple go?
The Ebitda multiple rows on the VC, DCF with multiples and Multiples cards are greyed out. Their tooltip says the multiple is now configured in the Advanced Multiples section, where you choose the multiple source and values.
What rules does Advanced Settings enforce?
The six Scorecard criteria weights must total 100%, or the card shows "The criteria weights of the Scorecard Method need to total 100%".
The five Checklist criteria weights must total 100%, or the card shows "The criteria weights of the Check-List Method need to total 100%".
Average Valuation of Comparable company and Maximum Valuation achievable cannot be 0. The card shows the field name followed by "should not be zero".
Percentage fields accept 0 to 100%, survival rates 0.1 to 100%, and Annual Required ROI up to 1,000%. The two valuation fields accept up to 100,000,000,000 in your company currency.
While any rule fails, you cannot save.
Limits
Plan: on the free plan, Advanced Settings is a Read-only preview. You can see every weight and input but cannot edit or save them. Upgrade to customize opens the upgrade options. Editing needs the Advanced plan or the Expert plan.
Headline figure: the page shows a valuation range until the questionnaire and financial projections are complete, then the average valuation.
Unsaved changes: leaving the page with unsaved edits shows a Data not saved warning.
Undo: there is no undo button. The arrow left of each field returns that field to its Equidam default.
For licensed organisations: the Presets menu saves the current weights and every input as a named preset that anyone in your organisation can apply to any company. Applying or saving a preset needs Custom values on, and saving needs weights that total 100%. Names must be unique and up to 80 characters, with at most 50 presets per organisation. Deleting a preset removes it for everyone; companies it was applied to keep their current settings.
Common questions
Why did my valuation go back to the defaults?
The Custom values switch is off. Switch it back on and your stored values apply again.
Why can I not save my changes?
The method weights do not total 100%, a set of criteria weights does not total 100%, or a valuation field is 0.
Do my custom values change the valuation report?
Yes. The report uses the weights and inputs in use when you generate it, and leaves out the method pages of any method set to 0%.
